History
In the southeast
desert region of Arizona,
Cochise County was formed in 1881 from Pima
County. Its county seat, Bisbee, is on US-80 (south of I-10) about 205 miles ESE of
Phoenix. Cochise is bordered by the Arizona counties of
Santa Cruz, Gresham, Pima and Greenlee, plus Mexico on the south and the state
of New Mexico on the east.
