History

In the Grand Canyon region of Arizona, Coconino County was formed in 1891 from Yavapai County. Its county seat, Flagstaff, is at the Intersection of I-40 and I-17, about 140 miles north of Phoenix. Coconino is bordered by the Arizona counties of Navajo, Gila, Yavapai and Mohave, and the Utah county of Kane.
