History

In the mineral-rich region of central Arizona, Gila County was formed in 1881 from Maricopa and Pinal Counties. Its county seat, Globe, is on US-60 about 90 miles northeast of Phoenix. Gila is bordered by the counties of Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo, Graham, Pinal and Maricopa.
