History

In central Arizona, Yavapai County was formed in 1864 as one of the four original Arizona counties. Its county seat, Prescott, is on US-89 about 100 miles north of Phoenix. Yavapai is bordered by the counties of Coconino, Gila, Maricopa, La Paz and Mohave.
