History

In the gold mining country of northern California, Nevada County was created in 1851 from the eastern part of Yuba County. Its county seat, Nevada City, is about 125 miles northeast of San Francisco. Nevada is bordered by the counties of Sierra, Yuba and Placer, as well as Washoe Co., NV.
