History

At the heart of the California Wine Country, Sonoma County was formed in 1850 as an original California County. Its county seat, Santa Rosa, is about 50 miles north of San Francisco. Sonoma is bordered by the counties of Napa, Lake, Mendocino and Marin, and the Pacific Ocean.
