History
In the
Heartland/South Central Region of
Florida,
Glades County was formed in 1921 from
DeSoto County. Its county seat, Moore Haven, is on
US-27 about 100 miles southeast of Tampa and 100 miles northwest of Miami. Glades is bordered by
Lake Okeechobee on the east, and the
counties of Highlands,
Okeechobee, Hendry and
Charlotte.
