History
In the
Heartland/South Central Region of Florida,
Hardee County was formed in 1921 from
DeSoto County. Its county seat,
Wauchula, is on
US-17 about 50 miles southeast of Tampa and 75 miles SSW of Orlando. Hardee is bordered by the
counties of Polk, Highlands,
DeSoto and Manatee.
