History
In the
Central/Space Coast Region of Florida,
Lake County was formed in 1887 from
Orange and Sumter counties. Its county seat,
Tavares, is on
US-441 about 30 miles northwest of Orlando. Lake is bordered by
Lake George and the
counties of Marion, Volusia,
Seminole,
Orange,
Polk and
Sumter.
