Liberty County
History
In the Panhandle Region of
Florida,
Liberty County was formed in 1855 from
Franklin and Gadsden
counties. Its county seat,
Bristol, is on the Apalachicola River about 45 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico
and about 40 miles west of Tallahassee. Liberty is bordered by the
counties of Gadsden,
Leon, Wakulla,
Franklin, Gulf and
Calhoun.
