Fannin County
History
In the Blue Ridge Region of Georgia, Fannin County was formed in 1854 from
Gilmer and
Union Counties. Its county seat,
Blue Ridge, is on
GA-515 about 90 miles north of Atlanta and 70 miles ESE of Chattanooga,
TN. Fannin is bordered by the Georgia counties of
Union,
Lumpkin, Gilmer and
Murray, as well as by Polk Co., TN and Cherokee Co., NC.
