History
In Northeastern Iowa,
Black Hawk County was formed in 1853 from
unorganized land. Its county seat,
Waterloo, is on I-380 and US-63, about 100 miles northeast of Des Moines. Black Hawk is bordered by the counties of
Bremer, Buchanan, Benton, Tama, Grundy and Butler.
