History

In easternmost Iowa on the Mississippi River, Scott County was formed in about 1836 from unorganized land. Its county seat, Davenport, is on I-80 about 150 miles east of Des Moines and 150 miles west of Chicago. Scott is bordered by the Iowa counties of Muscatine, Cedar and Clinton, as well as by the Illinois counties of Rock Island and Whiteside.
