History

In south central Indiana, Lawrence County was formed in 1818 from Orange County. Its county seat, Bedford, is on US-50 about 70 miles south of Indianapolis. Lawrence is bordered by the counties of Monroe, Jackson, Washington, Orange, Martin and Greene.
