In the center of Indiana,
Marion County was formed in 1822 from the Delaware
New Purchase. Its county seat, Indianapolis is also the state capital. Marion is bordered by the counties of
Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan,
Hendricks and Boone.
