History
In south central Indiana,
Washington County was formed in 1814 from Clark and
Harrison Counties. Its county seat, Salem, is on
IN-56 about 85 miles south of
Indianapolis. Washington is bordered by the counties of
Jackson, Scott, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Orange and
Lawrence.
