History

In the Uplands region of northern Louisiana, Franklin Parish was formed in 1843 from Catahoula, Ouachita and Madison Parishes. Its parish seat, Winnsboro, is about 140 miles NNW of Baton Rouge. Franklin is bordered by the parishes of Richland, Madison, Tensas, Catahoula and Caldwell.
