History

In the Frontier Country of central Oklahoma, Logan County was formed in 1890 as one of the seven original counties. Its county seat, Guthrie, is on I-35 about 30 miles north of Oklahoma City. Logan is bordered by the counties of Garfield, Noble, Payne, Lincoln, Oklahoma and Kingfisher.

Census Records

Oklahoma was opened to white settlers with the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889. The earliest extant census for Oklahoma Territory is for 1900, and Oklahoma Territory became a state in 1907. No Culpeppers have been found in any US censuses of Logan County prior to 1940, but a Culpepper did appear in an 1890 Homestead Directory
