Eastland County

County History and Geography

In the Rolling Plains Region of central Texas, Eastland County was formed in 1858 (organized 1873) from Bosque, Coryell and Travis Counties. Its county seat, Eastland, is on I-20, about 60 miles east of Abilene and 95 miles WSW of San Antonio. It is bordered by the counties of Stephens, Erath, Cherokee, Brown and Coryell.
