County History and Geography

In the Rolling Plains Region of north Texas, Jack County was formed in 1856 from Cooke County. Jacksboro, its county seat, is about 60 miles NW of Fort Worth. Jack is bordered by the counties of Clay, Montague, Wise, Parker, Palo Pinto, Young and Archer.
