Live Oak County

County History and Geography

In the South Texas Brush Country, Live Oak County was formed in 1856 from San Patricio and Nueces Counties. Its county seat, George West, is on I-37, about 80 miles south of San Antonio. Live Oak is bordered by the counties of Karnes, Bee, San Patricio, Jim Wells, Duval, McMullen and Atascosa.
