found below. Sons are indented under their fathers. the charts start
at the named individual and go forward in time to the present day.
All of the lines for which charts have been created are believed to
have one or more living male Culpepper descendants. Depicted are all of their known
Culpepper descendants as well as a few non-Culpeppers.
DNA Testing and Notation.
For those family
branches where a member is contained in the chart and is also a
member of our DNA project, we have
appended the members DNA Kit #
following the lowest-level family-branch name (These numbers have
meaning only to the publisher's of Culpepper and Associates and are
included here only for our convenience). Following the kit
number, we append in parentheses the working name of their DNA
subgroup. If the test has been ordered but not yet returned to the
lab, we place "Out" in parentheses. If the lab has not
yet provided test results, we place "In the Lab" in parentheses.

you use Internet Explorer 7.0, but not earlier browsers.

* DNA Signature: Erasmus/Pleasant. A unique DNA signature has
been found for the descendants of Pleasant Jackson Culpepper. In
general, they have the Culpepper modal haplotype exhibited by other
descendants of Robert Culpepper. However, with Pleasant's
descendants, DYS 437 = 15, and not 16 as is found in the modal
haplotype. It is possible that this variation actually occurred with one of Pleasant's direct ancestors: Osborne Jackson Culpepper,
Benjamin Culpepper of Clarke Co., AL, or Osborne Culpepper of Nash
Co., NC. Testing of more descendants of the latter should
clarify the generation in which the change in DYS 437 from 16 to 15
occurred.
** DNA Signature: Erasmus/StephenJos. A unique DNA signature has
been found for the descendants of Stephen Josephius Culpepper. In
general, they have the Culpepper modal haplotype exhibited by other
descendants of Robert Culpepper. However, with Stephen's
descendants, DYS 534 = 16, and not 17 as is found in the modal
haplotype. It is possible that this variation actually occurred with one of
Stephen's direct ancestors: Lemuel Culpepper, or Lemuel's father
(who perhaps was Erasmus, Sampson or Robert),
Testing of a descendant of Lemuel's son, Robert W. Culpepper, should
clarify the generation in which the change in DYS 534 from
17 to 16
occurred.
