Culpepper Family Tree Charts
Descendants of
Thomas Culpepper of Norfolk Co., VA

Thomas Culpepper of Norfolk Co., VA is the son of Henry Culpepper, Jr., and the grandson of Henry Culpepper of Lower Norfolk, who is believed to be the progenitor of most American Culpeppers. Links to charts depicting the branches of Thomas' descendants will be found below. Sons are indented under their fathers. the charts start at the named individual and go forward in time to the present day. All of the lines for which charts have been created are believed to have one or more living male Culpepper descendants. Depicted are all of their known Culpepper descendants as well as a few non-Culpeppers.

DNA Testing and Notation. For those family branches where a member is contained in the chart and is also a member of our DNA project, we have appended the members DNA Kit # following the lowest-level family-branch name (These numbers have meaning only to the publisher's of Culpepper and Associates and are included here only for our convenience). Following the kit number, we append in parentheses the working name of their DNA subgroup. If the test has been ordered but not yet returned to the lab, we place "Out" in parentheses. If the lab has not yet provided test results, we place "In the Lab" in parentheses.

DNA Signature. A unique DNA signature has been found for the descendants of Thomas Culpepper. In general, they have the Culpepper modal haplotype exhibited by the descendants of Robert Culpepper, the brother of Thomas' father, Henry, Jr.  However, contrasted with the modal haplotype, in Henry Jr.'s descendants, DYS 442 = 12, and not 13. Further, in the descendants of Thomas, a second mutation exists with DYS CDYb = 38, and not 37.
