Arthur Culpepper,
All American

Arthur played wide-receiver for Abilene Christian
University, 1982-86. He was given All-Conference honors from the Lone
Star Conference in 1986. All-American in 1986. He broke the ACU record
of Most Touchdown Passes Caught in a Career on 11 Oct 1986 in a game
against Eastern New Mexico University with 22. By the end of the season
he had more TD's to his record (number currently being researched).
Arthur was highly recruited by the pros, and tried out with both the
Cowboys and the Giants. But in his next to last college game, he
suffered a back injury and was never drafted.
After graduating from ACU in 1986, he moved home to San Antonio,
enlisted in the Air Force, and was stationed first at Lackland AFB and
later at Randolph AFB, both in his home town.
He currently (February 2000) works for Correctional Medical Services,
a company who provides healthcare to inmates in prison. He is the
Medical Care Administrator for two facilities in New Mexico; one in Las
Cruces, one in Roswell.
Arthur does public speaking and is involved with the Character Counts
program in Las Cruces. He is also on the Alumni Board for Abilene
Christian University.
Academic Profile:
Culpepper Ancestry. Son of Willie James and Isabell Cunningham
Culpepper, and grandson of Elisha and Ethel Davis Culpepper, both of whom are
possibly descended from slaves in Wilcox County, Alabama. The only known Culpepper family
in Wilcox County before the Civil War was that of Erasmus Culpepper, III.
