United States Navy, on active duty as a Naval Information Warfare
Officer serving on USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in Norfolk, VA.

Betty Lou Culpepper Brooks.
Oldest daughter of Master Sergeant Chris
Culpepper. Enlisted: Sept 1944 Ft. Crockett, Galveston, Texas.
Basic Training: 4th WAC Training Center, Ft. Oglethorpe,
Georgia. Communications: Gunter Field, Montgomery, Alabama.
Overseas Training: Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. Nov 1944: Allied Forces Headquarters Command, 2669 WAC
Battalion, 2666 WAC WIRES, Caserta, Italy. Her Unit received the Presidential Unit Citation from Harry
Truman for the work the unit did in North Africa and Italy in
keeping communications lines open thru D-Day. Oct 1945: Honorable Discharge, Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio,
Texas with ranking of PFC. 30 year member of Dwight Cowles American Legion Post #370,
Overland Park, Kansas. Currently serving her 3rd term as Post Chaplain, as well as
serving her 1st term as Chaplain for the 2nd District of

Eleanor
Louise Hart. In the Women Marines during WW-II. At the
end of the war, she married Carlton Milburn Culpepper at
Quantico. Carlton is the son of Charlie Humphrey Culpepper and Ruby
Jane Blackman.

Iris
Inez Culpepper. One of two
daughters of Darius Ivan Culpepper who
served in World War II.
Iris served in both
the Pacific and European Theaters. She entered military service as
soon as the war started and came home when the war was over. While
she was in Japan, Iris served as an MP. When she was in Europe, she
sang on the Radio Free Europe and the Voice of America Programs.
Among her memorabilia is money that was used during the American

Lucy
May Culpepper.
One of two daughters of Darius Ivan
Culpepper who served in World War II.
Lucy served from 29
Apr 44 until 30 Nov 45. Most of this service time was spent as a
Classification Specialist at Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma. Several
years later, the Air Force called her and asked her to come back.
That time she served from 5 Oct 50 to 4 Jul 53 at Barksdale AFB, LA.
