Lloyd
E. Culpepper, Jr. , son of Lloyd, Sr. and Birtie of Atlanta, was
at Fort Bragg and then at Leyte in the South Pacific where the US
defeated the Japanese in a decisive battle in October 1944. He
was discharged December 27, 1945 as a private, Battery A, 544th Field
Artillery Battalion. He was blond with blue eyes, weighed 158 lbs and
was 5'11 " tall. He had been a Sergeant, but he and his buddies
in the Philippines got their status busted for misconduct. (from

Lucy May
Culpepper. One of two
daughters of Darius Ivan Culpepper who
served in World War II. Lucy served from 29 Apr 44 until 30 Nov 45.
Most of this service time was spent as a Classification Specialist at
Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma. Several years later, the Air Force
called her and asked her to come back. That time she served from 5 Oct

chemical mortar battalion and landed on Omaha Beach at H+90 minutes. His unit has the only
battalion plaque on the beach and they were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. He was

Paul Cermitt Culpepper

5174], son of James Lewis and Beulah Culpepper, and brother of
WW-II veteran Noah Elijah Culpepper, was a
veteran of the U.S. Army's 503rd Parachute Infantry and served in the Philippines, the
East Indies and New Guinea during World War II. He was awarded four Bronze stars and a
Purple Heart during his tour in the Pacific. He was wounded by a grenade just as he was

Melton Culpepper, son of Samuel Jackson and Leona Raines
Culpepper, served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during WW-II on the
USS Monterey, a small aircraft carrier in the Fast Task Force in the
US Pacific Fleet. His duties included logging flights on and off the
carrier. He engaged in several major battles, including the Battle of
Leyte Gulf. Former US President Gerald R. Ford, was on the USS

Reuben Clarence Culpepper,
son of William Henry Culpepper. Due to a call up of Guard units by FDR, he was placed on
active duty (voluntarily) in November, 1940 with the 36th Division (Texas), 141st
Infantry, Company "F". For medical reasons, he was transferred to the
Quartermaster Corps in about 1943. In 1944, he saw service in France and was later sent to
the Philippines. Near the end of the war, he served in a Transportation Company. (Source:

the Pacific. He is one of four sons of Charles Benjamin Culpepper, all
of whom served overseas in the armed forces in WW-II, and all of whom
