A native of Dearing, he was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired in maintenance from Columbia County Schools. Survivors include two step-sons, Ronnie Threlkeld of Appling and Tommy Threlkeld of Augusta; two step-daughters, Venice Jordan and Delores Clark, both of Augusta; and a brother, Raymond Culpepper of Evans.
