Nelda Culpepper Akes Downing, of Abilene, passed away November 8, 2003 at San Angelo Community Hospital, after a four year battle against cancer. The family would like to thank Dr. Victor Hirsch and all his great staff, the doctors and staff at West Texas Renal Center, San Angelo Community Hospital and their staff, as well as her friends, for all their kindness, attention and support she received during her illness. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Abilene.6
