Research note*21 Feb 2008 Stephanie Gifford wrote: "I don't know the name of Charles David & William's mother... I have hit a dead end here, and am not quite sure how to proceed to find the mother. Marion County, Tennessee has limited records. Someday I intend to go there to look into this. I know they were given away as children and raised by an aunt and uncle. William's death certificate from Kentucky does list parents, but the names do not make sense with the rest of my research. Charles and William can be found on a 1900 census in Marion County, TN living with J. David Culpepper and his children. They are listed as grandchildren."2
