(Will mentions my children Jane Exum and George J. Culpepper; Robert B. Exum, the husband of Jane; granddaughter Mary C. Culpepper; beloved wife Mary Culpepper; grandson Henry B. Exum. Robert and Mary were appointed executors. Jos. Derackin and Elijah Hicks were witnesses. Moses W. Brown appointed guardian ad litem of infant Mary A. C. Culpepper.).2

Death*7 Feb 1874 He died at Marion Co., South Carolina, on 7 Feb 1874. Under the heading "Palmetto Leaves" (excerpts of stories originally published in a South Carolina newspaper, date undisclosed): "Mrs. Culpepper and her paramour, Bill Freyer, killed Geo. Biography* On 28 Mar 1857, G. J. Culpepper purchased from the estate of James Daniel. (Roll #238)

In the administration of the estate of James Deracken in Feb 1858, George Culpepper, Mary Culpepper and R. B. Exum were among those who were shown with accounts with the deceased. (Roll #1005)

On 25 Apr 1860, G. J. Culpepper purchased from the estate of Mary H. Anderson. (Roll #1159)

On 17 Jul 1860, a Prisons Bound Bond was issued "that G. J. Culpepper should remain within the bounds & limits of Goal of Marion Dist as established by law and within forty days from date before clerk CCP as pay & satisfy a Writ of Capias ad satisfaciendum sued out by Samuel Kerton etc." (Marion Co. CCP, page 69)

On 9 Feb 1863, G. J. Culpepper purchased from the estate of James R. Lewis. (Roll #1663)

On 29 May 1866, in his will, Lewis. J. Harrell appoints George Culpepper as executor and designates his mistress Caroline (formerly a slave of Dr. James Jarrott) to be his heir. Wit: W. W. Sellers, W. P. Gore and Thos. Mitchell. (Roll #1554)

On 8 Aug 1866, George J. Culpepper and his brother-in-law Robert B. Exum were named appraisers for the estate of Richard Williford and they both subsequently purchased from it.10,11
