DNA* From DNA and genealogical evidence we conclude that William Culpepper of Indiana is a descendant of Benjamin Culpepper of Edgecombe Co., NC, who is a grandson of Henry Culpepper of Lower Norfolk, VA.

 He was the son of William Culpepper of Kentucky.

From Steve Ehrler: "I got interested in William and Sarah [William's second wife] as the two of them were a family legend that my great aunt passed along to our family. The two were alledgedly on a boat on the Ohio river when it sank. They swam ashore, and, not knowing anyone else, stuck together, fell in love and the rest is history - at least that is what the legend is."
