| Obituary* | 21 Feb 2007 | NETTLETON - Beverly Hinson Culpepper, 64, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at The Home Place in Nettleton after a long illness. She was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Nettleton to the late Leroy and Lorene Collier Hinson. She graduated from Nettleton High School and received her B.S. degree from Mississippi State University. She retired after 25 1/2 years of teaching in the Okolona School System. A caring and gifted educator, she was awarded the 1997-1998 Teacher of the Year Award for her dedication to the children of the Okolona School System. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okolona, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, sewing, growing flowers, and cooking for her family and friends. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Okolona with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Scarborough, the Rev. Dr. Wallace Cayson and the Rev. Frank Millinder officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Church Cemetery in Itawamba County. Holland-Harris Funeral Directors Okolona Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Bob Culpepper, whom she married Oct. 15, 1975; three daughters, Donna King (Albert) and Felecia Higgins (Tommy), both of Amory, and Jenny Tacker (Bill) of Smithville; one son, Robert Culpepper (Carol) of Okolona; one brother, Curtis Hinson (Jean) of Huntsville, Ala; eight grandchildren, Zak and Eli King, Angie Harmon (Andy), Carrie Moffett (Bryan), Suzanne Thompson (Chad), Bubba Tacker (Candy), Adam Higgins and Elizabeth Higgins; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Hopkins, in April 1972; her parents; and two sisters. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
