| Obituary* | 4 Sep 2008 | Charlie Wendell Culpepper, June 4, 1932 - September 2, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA -- Charlie Wendell Culpepper, 76, of Columbus, GA, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Reverend David Howle and Reverend Andy Merritt officiating. The following will serve as active pallbearers; Sonny Lollar, Luther Miller, Alan Coker, Steve Cosby, Ben Brantley, Dan Culpepper, Wayne Culpepper, and David Marlowe. A private interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. Mr. Culpepper was born June 4, 1932 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Charlie Wilson Culpepper and the late Mattie Lee Cates Culpepper. Other than his parents, he was predeceased in death by his wife, Jean Parker Culpepper, his son, J.R. (Bobby) Culpepper. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and retired after 32 years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and the Tom Fluker Sunday School class. Survivors include his wife, Sybil Brantley Culpepper of Columbus, GA; daughter, Regena C. Bowden (Jimbo) of Phenix City, AL; two sons, Mark W. Culpepper (Dee) of Columbus, GA, Greg Culpepper (Tracy) of Phenix City, AL; four brothers, Donnie Culpepper (Pat) of Columbus, GA, Daniel Culpepper (Flora) of Columbus, GA, Lavon Culpepper (Lelia) of Columbus, GA, and Thomas Culpepper of Houston, TX;, grandchildren, Leah Johnson (Joe) of LaGrange, GA, Jaime N. Matthews of Phenix City, AL, Mary Ann Pierce of Smiths, AL, Erica Jean Culpepper of Phenix City, AL, Garrett Grace Culpepper of Columbus, GA, Charles Parker Culpepper of Phenix City, AL, and Emily A. Culpepper of Phenix City, AL, and seven great grandchildren. Though his church, Mr. Culpepper was dedicated to the Hope Foundation Romanian Mission Team.
