Biography* Aubrey Lee Culpepper was the son of Johnny Harry and Wilma Eunice (Stuckey) Culpepper. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.4 He returned to Arkansas and was a fireman until his retirement. He died in 1984 at the age of 55.

From Capos Conley 'Chip' Culpepper II, September 2001: "I personally knew Aubrey, and spent a great deal of time with his family for a number of summers on "the farm" near Sheridan, Ark (his sons by his marriage to Martha Jane Obernier were close to me and my brothers in age).

Unfortunately, one of the best sources of first-hand information on the colorful character who was Aubrey was my own father, Conley Edward Culpepper who died just over a year ago. Although my father was Aubrey's uncle, Dad was only 4 years older than Aubrey. They literally grew up together in Pine Bluff.

As you are probably well aware, Aubrey was more than a bit of a wildman.

A couple of examples I recall my dad telling me ....

When my father was in basic training for the Army during WWII, Aubrey literally hopped a ride on a freight train just to visit him.

When my mom and dad were married just after the War, they were enroute to Pine Bluff for their honeymoon when my dad noticed a lump under a blanket in the back seat of the car. The lump turned out to be Aubrey in hiding. Dad stopped the car and left him on the side of the highway... only to have him show up again later at the hotel to serenade the honeymooners through the window!"
