| Biography* | | Sam was a sawyer by trade. He followed the sawmill business, as his father had before him. When the sawmill moved, he moved. Many times he would board for two weeks at a time before coming home. The family lived on a farm and the boys were taught how to run it. Before leaving Sam would assign the boys chores and upon his return they were expected to be done. He enjoyed making music. When just a young man, he learned to play, and could play anything he had ever heard. The family had an old pump organ and had many good singings with Sam at the keyboard. He also played the harmonica. |
