Biography* See statement by Owen Culpepper in File #73, p 559, Lauderdale County Probate Court, dated Jan 26, 1863. Owen said that Joel was his son, that he died without leaving a will, and that the total of his estate was around $100 which was owed him by the Confederate States of America for services. He listed the heirs as Owen Culpepper, Phillip P. Culpepper, Mary Culpepper, Nancy Harris, Perlina Hall, and Rebecca Welch.
