Birth*2 Aug 1841 James was born at Sevier Co., Tennessee, on 2 Aug 1841. 
 He was the son of Amos Russell Atchley and Angelina B. Trotter. 
Marriage*19 Oct 1863 He married Louisiana Martha Norris at Arkansas on 19 Oct 1863. 
Death*2 Feb 1903 He died at Sheridan, Grant Co., Arkansas, on 2 Feb 1903. 
Biography* James walked with a cane because of a bullet in his leg. It was still there when he died. He enlisted in the military in June of 1861, at 19 years of age. He was a Private in CPT Threadgill's Company in the 2nd Regiment Arkansas Infantry at Camp Pillow near Memphis, TN. He was discharged at Tupelo, MS on June 15, 1862.
He was buried at New Hope Cem., Sheridan, AR.
