| Biography* | Sampson Culpepper's wife is unknown, but it is clear that he married as he had at least one daughter, who was under the age of ten in the 1820 census of Hancock County, MS. The 1820 census lists another woman in his household aged 16 to 26, so she was born between 1793 and 1804. This was probably Sampson's wife, and she was probably born around 1793. This would make her about 19 years old when Louisa was born. She probably named her daughter Louisa after her mother. She seems to have died soon thereafter as no further children have been found for this marriage. (Names referenced above: Sampson Culpepper of Mississippi Sampson Culpepper of Mississippi). | |
