Marriage*circa 1826 He married First Wife of John Smith (?) Culpepper at Georgia circa 1826. 
Land Lottery*2 Apr 1827 He had a fortunate draw in the land lottery on 2 Apr 1827 at Turners District, Monroe Co., Georgia, (lot 230-5 in Lee Co., GA).4 
1830 Census*1 Jun 1830 John was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census at Monroe Co., Alabama.5

(John Smith Culpepper served in the Buckskin Hussars, the military unit of 1836 under Davis Graham which was sent to Florida. Jan last is rec'd and in compliance to your odre I called my men together, after which I made return to his Excellency, which perhaps might have been miscarried as I have not rec'd, any answer or futher order or information, consequently, have thought proper to address you on the subject, and give you a list of the officers and men under my command. We are ready as soon as arms and the necessary equipment for war are furnished us, to march. I herewith send the names and numbers of officers and privates under my command.
