Research note*3 Jun 2004 Elijah Culpepper cannot be proven to be a son of John Culpepper, but is listed here as a possibility. DNA has proven that a descendant of Elijah is a descendant of Joseph Culpepper, the father of John Culpepper. So the only lingering question is whether Elijah might be a son of one of John's brothers.
The earliest records on Elijah are in Laurens County, and the Culpepper family of early Laurens all seem to be descended from John. Arguing against Elijah being a son is the fact that only 1 male under 16 was listed in the 1790 census in the HH of John, and this most likely was Henry. Further research is needed.
