J. Lanham of Little River will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Bliss Hall Community Center in Little River. Hosts for the reception will be the couple's two sons and daughters-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lanham and Mr. and Mrs. Drew Lanham. The Lanhams also have six grandchildren. A. J. Lanham and Sunshine Culpepper were married Sept. 5, 1936, by Judge T. E. Sanderford in his Belton home. They both were born near Little River and have been longtime residents of the area with the exception of five years when Lanham worked for Brazos River C&R District and U.S. Engineers. Mrs. Lanham has served Parent-Teachers Association member, a 4-H Club leader, Cub Scout den mother and past worthy matron of the Holland Chapter 544 of the Order of Eastern Star. Lanham, a former Bell County Commissioner, is a builder and farmer-stockman. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the reception. The couple requests no gifts. |
