| Biography* | Charles was 36 and Anna was 12 when they married. . Charles was a blacksmith and miller. He and Anna lived in the lower part of 2nd District, Marion Co. Their home place was near the Hezekiah Slade Cemetery. He died July 6, 1852, at age 80 and is buried in the Slade cemetery. . Before his estate was settled, his wife, Anna moved to Texas. The following is quoted from"orphans Court Records ( Abstracted of Wills and Estates (1812-1859-Marion County, Ms"by E Russ Williams, Jr.) "page 206- Heirs at law due ortions from the sale of the estate of Charles Taylor, deceased: Ann Taylor, the widow, of Marion County: Helena Slade, wife of the petitioner; Sarah Byrd, wife of Donnon Byrd; Charles Rouse, Hester Ann Rouse, Sabra Ann Rouse; and Caroline Rouse, all of Marion County, and Keziah Culpepper, supposed to reside in the State of Lousiana. The lawful heirs of Lucinda Taylor, deceased, are unknown. Burwell Rouse, Hezakiah Rouse, and Caroline Rouse, are minors under 21 and reside with their father, Daniel Rouse, in Marion County." /s/ Hezekiah Slade - 9-30-1853 (the children listed in the above are Charles Rouse, Hester Ann Rouse,Sabra Ann Rouse and Caroline Rouse are all children of Daniel Rouse and Elizabeth Taylor Rouse) (from Ken Slade, e-mail kls1613@flash.net). . Hezakiah Slade was administrator of the estate of Charles Taylor, records at Court of Marion Co., Ms. dated 9/20/1853 pg. 172. Children: Lucinda Taylor married James Spikes, Elizabeth Taylor b. abt. 1803 d. bef. 1853 married 11/24/1824 to Daniel Rouse, Keziah Taylor b. 1804 Ga., died abt. 1860 Lawrence Co., MS., married John William Culpepper, Helena Victoria Taylor b. Aug. 20, 1809 Ala. Terr. married Feb. 12, 1829 to Hezekiah Slade in Marion Co., MS., Sarah H. Taylor b. abt. 1810 Ga. married Dennan Snow Byrd. I have been told that Anna was a Creek indian and after Charles died she moved to Tx. This I have not confirmed. |
