Biography* Dr. Charles L. Culpepper, Sr. listed Leah's date of birth as "Dec. 20th 1873" and her brother, Wade Hampton's, date of birth as "Dec. 16th 1875" in the GENEALOGY OF FRANCIS G. CULPEPPER but in a later list both were listed with a 16 Dec date of birth. The Culpepper Heritage Association records lists both with a 16 Dec date of birth. There is no indication whether the source is a Bible record or a tombstone but it seems likely that the original 20 Dec date was miscopied as 16 Dec because of it was followed by Wade Hampton's record. Mrs. J. M. (Zetha M. Estein) Baucom wrote a BAUCOM, RUFUS ISAAC entry for Bosque County: Land and People published by the Bosque County Historical Commission in 1985 and listed the following children for Rufus Isaac Baucom and Mary Leah Culpepper: Bonnie Fay Baucom Mounce (1900-1973); Susie Lee Baucom Mounce (1904-); Josephine Baucom (1907-1929); John Moses Bausom (1909-); Mattie Bernice Baucom Cousin (1912-); Rufus Eugene Baucom (1916-).
