Of course it is not the same house he had but is the same farm." In a 9 Aug 1993 letter, Eleanor added "the house that stands on the place was built by Jas. D. - two rooms log cabins - during the war for the wife of one of the sons." John William Culpepper added in a 16 Aug 1993 letter: George [Washington Culpepper] built a two room log house for his son James Daniel's wife during the Civil War. At the time she had been living near Greenville, Meriwether County. He wanted her to be close to him so he could protect her while James was off fighting. That home I believe was James Daniel's home after the war and he built additions to it. The home is still there....
John William also mentioned that Lydia was "currently in poor health in a hospital." Lydia and Henry had no children. Lydia died at the age of 81. The following obituary is from p. 9 of the Meriwether Vindicator for 26 Sep 1997: Mrs. Lydia C.
