| Biography* | Mrs. Sarah Culpepper Cutts conducted a program for the descendants of George Washington Culpepper at the 6 Jul 1958 Culpepper Reunion which was held at Lone Oak, Meriwether Co., GA. Two years later she would die of cancer. The following obituary is from an unknown source: Mrs. Harvey C. Cutts Died November 30 Mrs. Harvey C. Cutts, the former Miss Sarah Culpepper, of Greenville, died on Wednesday, November 30th, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Cutts was the daughter of the late N. F. Culpepper, prominent Georgia lawyer, and Martha Park Culpepper, both of Greenville. After her graduation from Wesleyan College in 1925, she taught history in the Greenville high school. In 1930 she married Harvey C. Cutts, widely recognized for his leadership in public education. Mrs. Cutts spent most of her live in Greenville and for many years had been outstanding as a leader in religious and public affairs. She was a member of the Greenville Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Greenville Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Warren Cutts, Rev. Clinton Cutts, Rev. C. C. Hendrix, and Rev. C. R. McCutcheon conducting the last sad rites. Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery with Gilbert Brothers in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cutts leaves her husband, Harvey C. Cutts, of this city, a daughter, Mrs. Randall E. Jones, and two grandchildren, Ellen Clay Jones and Harvey M. Jones of Pensacola, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Jerry Doughtie, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Mrs. E. H. Turner of Griffin and Mrs. Wm. Lee of Newnan, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were: Messrs. W. _ Allen, J. P. Atkinson, Guy Hardaway, Albert Herring, Roy ___ay, Thomas Tigner, Frank Tigner, Sr. and Pitts Culpepper. |
