(Marie Culpepper) Goree wrote about John Clark Culpepper on p. 25 of an addendum to The Life History of the Culpepper Family from 1633 to May 1949 (information before Elijah Clark Culpepper has been proven incorrect): He was a very fine farmer in Alabama and was for a number of years an overseer of the Marshall Plantation near Eufaula, Alabama. For a number of years he was a merchant in Alabama and Georgia.
