Biography* Carrie Eunice was one of a set of twins born to William Jehu and Josephine East Culpepper on March 5, 1883. Her twin was named Clara Earnest. Carrie married first to Sam Hogue who was a brother to the husband of her sibling Emily Delura who married James Hiram Hogue.

Carrie and Sam had no children. After Sam's death she was rather desolate when one of her neighbors named Sim Williams, a widower with four sons wrote a letter to her in which he expressed the desire to marry her. Her stepson's state that she cried awhile and then wrote him back and accepted. The stepson's also report that she had a good sense of humor and encouraged them to study and get a good education. One of the stepson's also report that he attended church where William Jehu Culpepper was often asked to offer prayer. His prayers according to this young boy were " 'bout and hour".
