Biography* Mrs. R L (Rita Boyette) Holland, in a 25 Jul 1978 letter, gives Matilda's name as "Matilda Marquette" and notes that she was known as "Maggie." Mrs. B. J. (Kathye Culpepper) Garrett wrote, in a 28 Jul 1978 letter, that her mother remembered her as "Matilda Marguette." A sister-in-law, Mrs. Otis Francis Culpepper, in a 24 Sep 1978 letter, listed her as "Margaret Matilda." I suspect that she was named after her grandmother, whose tombstone records the name "Margarette."
