| Biography* | John was a carpenter in 1850. He may have been the son of John Culpepper and Barsheba Wright, of Nash County, NC, but proof is lacking. Barsheba was listed in the 1820 Nash County census with a son under ten years old, whose identity is otherwise unknown, and who was probably this John. Also, Alexander Culpepper, another son of John and Barsheba, was living in Greene County, AL, in 1830. In his household that year was an otherwise unidentified male aged 15-20.
