| Biography* | The Greene pedigree is under research and construction, and should be considered highly speculative at this point. There is reason to believe that William Greene might have been the nephew, rather than the son, of Thomas Greene. He is listed here as a son for reference only. See the will of John Greene, proved 1674, Norfolk County, VA, in which he mentions William as his cousin, not his brother. (Norfolk Deed Book E, page 166, will of John Greene) If William was the son of Thomas, then John was not. And if John was the son of Thomas, then William was not. The presence of this extended Greene family in early Lower Norfolk, all with connections to the Culpepper family, suggests an earlier relationship between the Green and Culpepper families, perhaps in England. Will of WILLIAM GREENE, Lower Norfolk Co., NC Book E, p. 178 dated 21 Mch. 1673 proved 15 Feb 1674 ... wife SARAH GREENE ... one third .. extx ... ... two thirds to be equally divided amongst my three daughters ... to be made my friend THO.
